Friends of Heritage Square is a focused group of Astorians who have assembled to reignite the vision of Heritage Square as a public gathering place. Phase One was dedicated in 2014 with the completion of The Garden of Surging Waves. We have worked diligently the past 16 months to gather information about the possibilities and opportunities for a downtown plaza. The potential is enormous. Those who hold Astoria dear will enjoy the values this public space will reflect. All Astorians will recognize the legacy and foresight of those that dream big now, and take action.
The historical data from citizen input, as well as the many physical attributes desired for such a plan validates the merits of the size and location for this downtown site. The Square's uses and activities are limited only by our collective imaginations.

Friends of Heritage Square is dedicated to managing and overseeing the design, construction, maintenance, and ongoing operation of Astoria's Heritage Square.
We want this vibrant and necessary public square to reflect our unique community, history, and culture. This will best be served by creating a functional, flexible space that evolves over time with use.
Our collective energies and ideas can and will be transformational.
